Commtraxx RSS Builder allows you to securely store your FTP login details for quick
feed publishing. You can save as many FTP accounts and locations as you wish.
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a protocol for exchanging files over the internet.
In the context of Commtraxx RSS Builder, FTP is the mechanism used to save your completed feeds
to your web server - effectively publishing them to the public domain. When you
press the orange PUBLISH RSS FEED button in your feed constructor, you will be prompted
to choose an FTP account to use.
FTP Accounts
Your web host will be able to provide you with the details of your FTP account.
You will require a login user name and password as well as a host URL. The host
URL should be in the format ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com.
Adding New Accounts
Navigate to TOOLS - FTP Settings in the main top menu of Commtraxx RSS Builder.

Press the ADD NEW button. Enter a host name and your login username and password.
You can also nominate a REMOTE PATH. This is the sub-directory of your web space
to which you want your feeds to be saved. For example, if you want to save your real
estate feeds to a location of http://www.yourdomain.com/feeds/realestate/ your FTP
settings would be as follows (assuming that your FTP account points to your site's
root):
|
HOST |
ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com |
|
USER NAME |
YourUserName |
|
PASSWORD |
YourPassword |
|
REMOTE PATH |
feeds/realestate |
Press the TEST button once you have entered your host and login details to ensure
that you have set up the account correctly. Press SAVE to complete the setup and
store your FTP location. The account will then appear in the list to the left of
the screen and in all FTP account selection drop-down boxes throughout the program.
You can set up as many accounts as you like. For quick access to multiple sub directories
of the same web site, set up your FTP account identically numerous times with the
REMOTE PATH field being the only difference.

Editing Accounts
Click the FTP account you wish to edit in the list to the left of the FTP
Settings screen. A green EDIT box will appear to the right to tell you that you
are in edit mode. Change the details as required and then click SAVE.
Deleting Accounts
Click the account you wish to remove from your list of Commtraxx RSS Builder stored
accounts and then click the DELETE button below the list. Note: This does NOT delete
the selected FTP from your web server, it simply removes it from the list of accounts
that Commtraxx RSS Builder stores for quick access. |
